In Sancho news, I think he has been given the no.16 shirt for now. Hopefully it's real news, he needs to earn that no.7 shirt.

Keano and carrick, maybe unbeknownst to us, Jadon has come in to solve our deep lying mf position.FuB wrote: ↑2 years agoto be fair 16 was worn by some hard acts to followfat maradona wrote: ↑2 years ago In Sancho news, I think he has been given the no.16 shirt for now. He's been given the no.25 shirt actually. There isn't any illustrious company there unfortunately, unless you include Cruyff, Tony V and Fortune
Let's just hope he doesnt follow suit with tony v then, #25, promoted to 7 after a few seasons, couldn't handle the pressure of the number and had to revert back to 25 next season!fat maradona wrote: ↑2 years ago He's been given the no.25 shirt actually. I actually think that’s unfair. It’s not like France and Juventus played similarly. I think he’s just had two managers at United that have been very defensive. Plus some of the players around him aren’t great. He has been consistently good when he’s not required to sit really deep.
Better to sell him, but it will be bad if we don’t buy a midfielder who can connect defence to attack. If we sign Sancho, Varane, and Trippier, our defence and attack will be better, but our midfield will be worse. We’ll probably be better overall, but we’ll still have that problem where the defence and attack seem very disconnected, and we can’t really build attacks properly, and we definitely won’t be able to control the midfield or tempo of play.
Someone like Neves or Camavinga as a replacement makes sense, because they sit naturally deep but are good at passing the ball forward. Would help us get past that problem where there’s such a disconnect between Bruno and the attackers, and McFred.

I mean people said Herrera wasn’t that special and we could easily replace him with someone better. And that was true. But we didn’t replace him. Fred and McT don’t have the movement and passing that Herrera did. Our midfield has been getting less fluid and more shitehousey. Bruno has obviously done very well, but we’re playing him as a classic 10, more of an attacker than a midfielder.
Likewise, United is bigger than Pogba and can survive without Pogba, that’s no problem. But the simply reality is that he is by far the best passer in our squad, there’s no one remotely close to his level. Will we replace that? We need to be adding passing quality to our midfield, not losing it.

The more I think about it, the more excited I’d be if we signed Neves. The only specialist holding midfielder we have is Matic, yet we play two holding fielders. Neves is a specialist in that role and particularly good passer on top of that. So he’d go straight into the starting 11 and improve the side.
Surely we can raise 30M by selling some of those players in our massive squad that we never use. Selling unused players to buy a first team starter is too fucking obvious for this club though.

What if we sold Pogba and bought Neves? A midfield 3 of Fernandes, McT and Neves is well balanced and arguably more functional than any combination we have now that includes Pog.bman2 wrote: ↑2 years ago The more I think about it, the more excited I’d be if we signed Neves. The mismanagement of the squad means we've now got a shitload of players earning a wodge but no real way of getting rid cos clubs are reluctant to spend due to covid losses. There's a shitload to be made from selling De Gea, Lingard, Dalot, Martial and even shite like Jones. But getting rid is gonna be nigh on impossible.
