Rangnick will only get anywhere if the club actually follows through behind the scenes, and doesn’t just leave everything at the level of image and bullshit. The way the press has been briefed on things over the last week or two, it does at least sound like the other suits around Woodward at least recognize that they’ve run the place into the ground and need to get their act together.
Everyone supported Gaal. His problem was every player he bought was crap for us.
Literally everyone. Look at this list
https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/louis-v ... n_id/93863

He also had too much sideways and backwards passing and our team created no chances, and lacked urgency even when we were behind.
We can argue that his system needed time to evolve. But his transfers were just terrible. He spent a lot of money.
Other managers also bought crap but there were some decent purchases.
When a manager you don't like bought shite players (Gaal), it was all his fault. When a manager you do like bought shite players (Jose), it was Eds fault.
...
*blah blah blah more fucking crap
I didn't say its Ed's fault. Jose chose his players, so did Gaal and Moyes and Ole. Why spew so much false information to make a point, whatever it is?

You need to take your head out of the old way of thinking, that a manager just needs world class players to succeed. It takes more than that now. It will be difficult for you cos you love to engage people in endless debates about the qualities of a player. But the emphasis has switched to player development and infrastructure now. Keep up, Doze.

Sid's right - the game is increasingly, and rightly in my view, about player development and tactics.

Agreed. We have genuine potential world class talent in the likes of Greenwood & Rashford but they've lost 3 years of development under the Ole regime......Greenwood has had his breakthrough but he's not been progressed on and Rashford is probably worse than he was 3 years ago. If they'd have played under the likes of Klopp or Guardiola, imagine how much better they would be.

I always go on about just how much potential we have in the current U23's and out on loan. With a proper development system in place, with decent coaching of skills and tactics and game management, a fair few of those academy lads will come through. Someone like Rangnick loves that sort of shit, developing class out of nothing. This is the bit I'm most excited about.

Rashford, Greenwood, Beek, Diallo, Laird, Elanga, Pellestri, Hannibal. Some proper young and emerging talent there.

Fuck, even someone like Bruno could kick on a level under a proper coach.

Carrick is in charge again for Arsenal. Rangnick still going through immigration process. Brexit complications. Yet another example of why it was incompetent not to replace Ole during the international break.

He's in the country though. So even though he can't visibly take the role, there's nothing to stop him actually doing what he needs to do. Hopefully.

If Carrick has any sense he will already have been talking to Ralph about the game.

Its a bit weird, Carrick in his press conference today, said that he still hasn't even spoken to ralf, never mind talked to him about the game.
