I just watched the Ronaldo video he did with MUTV. The interviewer asks what Ole has planned for him, and Ron smiles and says they've only had a brief chat, so he doesn't know his role or what's expected of him. That's rare these days cos clubs sign players for specific roles which is usually talked about at length before they move.
It really is a smash and grab signing. I wonder if they even know his recent goals and assists - or the fact that he basically doesn't defend anymore. Or even run that much. Might be quite important.
Viva Ronaldo - He’s back.
Ronaldo against Ireland was consistent with what I’ve seen of him in the last couple of years. He’s a pure striker/forward now. He’ll work up top constantly, and doesn’t come back looking for the ball if it’s not getting to him. So it can look like he’s having a quiet game, but then he’ll pop up and score. He doesn’t track back, but he still works hard, he makes the runs. With Pogba, Bruno, Sancho, we definitely have players with the quality to find him. The trick will be getting the ball up to them, as we know.

Mission accomplished
Except it's not tbf. That bout of violence and direct action might not have got rid of the Glazers, but it did make them act. They ditched Ed, hired a DoF (which looks to have transformed the club), begun renovating Old Trafford and made some massive signings resulting in the best window since the Anderson / Nani window in 2007.
Some of these changes are massive, particularly ditching Ed and hiring a DoF, cos for the first time since Fergie it looks like we have the ability to address our problems with the squad
If we keep the boot on the Glazers' neck, they'll perform as better owners. If we don't, the neglect will set in again. We know now they're not immune to protests and boycotts. It does affect them. So as fans we're in a much stronger position now than we were a couple of years ago. As a team we are too, with Varane and Sancho solving two big problems in the 11.

I’ve just seen that Juve is literally in the relegation zone. Obviously it’s just a few games in, but they’re really struggling, and can barely score. Bit weird that, because the pundits told us that Ronaldo was holding Juve back, despite being the league’s top scorer. Shouldn’t they be great now? Meanwhile, we’re near the top of the table even though we only really played well in our first game of the season. Turns out scoring goals is actually useful and has some say in how well a team does.

It's not just the goals, the commercial interest he brings is crucial post pandemic

It goes back further than that. The sacred turnover plateaued under Jose and has struggled to pick up since. This is probably the main reason Ed is leaving. It needs new blood, new ideas, and tbf competency.
