Spot on Sid. The issue isn't in Hag giving players a clean slate - its the right thing to do. The issue is in constantly lurching from manager to manager and playing style to playing style (or no style). We have to have a proper baseline and some patience to build properly, and back the manager to overhaul the squad over 2-3 years.
And such has been the abject lack of coaching and toxicity in the dressing room, some players may surprise us. Maguire for example - awful last year, but may do OK in a properly coached side with full backs and a midfielder can can protect him better and actually take the ball from him. Rashford may never hit the world class heights some think he has the potential to do, but he's clearly better than he showed last season.
Assessing our squad
It's hard enough to get rid of our players as it is.
We should get rid the second we get the chance.
Martial has been at the club for what? 7 years? There's no chance he's doing well now.
Yeah it’s all well and good saying the manager can’t change a whole team overnight. But what about those players who have been frozen at the fringe of the squad for years? Surely it’s a big factor in the squad’s terrible morale. Might be better just to release some of them from their contracts. We’ll never get a transfer fee for them.

Getting rid of players is not the managers job though. He can tell Arnold who is surplus - which he will have done - then it's Arnold's to negotiate with the player and a new club and get rid.bman2 wrote: ↑1 year ago Yeah it’s all well and good saying the manager can’t change a whole team overnight. In the meantime Ten Hag has to back em publicly cos Arnold might not be able to get rid, so then they're hanging around and can upset the squad. But also cos you're only one or two injuries away from having to use them. And of course it affects the transfer fee.
I can understand fans wanting Hag to call some players cunts and physically throw em out of Old Trafford. But we've just had that with Rangnick. That will have to suffice for now.
Ten Hag can kick players out of his first team squad though. If United somehow pull off a miracle and buy a lot of players in the 15-25m range the club can get rid of some long timers.Sid wrote: ↑1 year agoGetting rid of players is not the managers job though. Positive noises about how the squad is reacting to Ten Hag and his methods. Lets hope that continues.
You always get that though.JoelfuckingGlazer wrote: ↑1 year ago Positive noises about how the squad is reacting to Ten Hag and his methods. Lets hope that continues.
