Ed will hold a consultancy role 'for a number of months'. Not sure why we can't let him go now.
I can actually see that as being really valuable. The club should know what Woodfuck would do in any given situation, so that they can do the opposite.

What a worthless pile of shit who has somehow become wealthy and somewhat famous through the travesty of late stage capitalism.
You're basing his value on being a DoF when you say he's a worthless pile of shit. But he's a phenomenal commercial director, he has managed to secure some of the best sponsorship deals in the clubs history, managed the finances through a period where the club was paying out huge amounts of interest and dividends and generally kept the club in money. At the end of the day, he will only carry out his duties to the instruction of the Glazers. I'm in no way a fan of his but in terms of Woodward carrying out his remit on the financial side, you can't criticise him. It's the owners fault for not having a DoF in place and having a team managing that aspect of the club rather than one bloke trying to do it all.

Regards keeping the cunt in a job, it does make sense. He will give Arnold a proper handover and allow the Glazers to spend yet more unnecessary money on a frivolity.
To counter this though, Woodward would have known he was out of his depth and completely oblivious when it came to handling football matters, and rather than admit it, he just blundered on, year after year.

He just wanted to be the big main man, Billy Big balls.

At any point he could have got someone qualified in, and continued commercial side, but he wanted to the centre of attention!

Woodward to leave in April. No mention here of a consultancy role.

Possibly because the club is in another crisis and the fans are royally fucked off again, so they don't want to fan the flames

Wasn't he supposed to leave by the end of last year?

He's officially gone

When Ed took over United were competing for major trophies, we had a title winning squad, money to improve it, commercially strong, plus stability & expertise

Fast forward to 2022 - the club lurches from crisis to crisis, we've burned through hundreds of millions, won no major trophies, fan morale is at rock bottom, and the club has been surpassed commercially by City and others

Ed leaves with relationships in tatters after betraying the football pyramid and authorities with the ESL

How can someone so horrifically shit at his job walk away absolutely fucking minted

Yeah, he made a mockery of the notion that modern Western/capitalist society might be meritocratic. This guy was in a very public position that millions of people care about, but somehow he got away with being blatantly, even proudly incompetent for years. I used to at least respect his handle on the money and commercial side of things, but now that more time has passed, it looks more like United really didn't do anything special there. All he did was sell more and more bits of the jersey for some company to stick their logo on, and as the years went by with the football being shit, that money started to dry up anyway.

Remember after he first took over, he started publicly bragging about how much money United had that it was willing to spend on players? So it was obvious from the outset he was a total idiot.
