I'm excited, like properly excited now for the new season...which is really something based on how I've felt recently about Utd....
But that's based on us following up getting Jose by signing some real quality to add to the young talent we have

He is absolutely beaming, God bless him.

Woodward did something right, so well done to him.

This is the one he wanted.

He's found his home.

Bring it it on. I'm telling you, this is it. He's going to be magic.

I'm not sure I understand your point.

This is a brand new chapter in his career, and it's no secret that he's craved the United job for a long time.

my point is as I put it. he made out he was the "happy one" when he rejoined Chelsea but - and maybe I'm just misinterpreting it - he doesn't seem to be anywhere near as beaming as you've pointed out he is in the mutv interview. in the Chelsea press conference he seems more pleased to be engaging with the uk press again than the actual job.

Just need Mourinho to not act petulant and work with a longer term strategy than he's done in his previous jobs. Hope it works out well, if he fails, I'm not sure who else can turn it around.

OK, maybe I got a bit carried away and 'beaming' was a bit of a stretch, but he is clearly smiling and looks pleased where he says "I feel great" at the beginning. He is happy.

What's the point in making comparisons between different points in time?

It just seems rather, well, pointless. Be happy ffs!

Sure, it might happen, but it's a bit like battered wife syndrome to think it will, since he's simply never ever done that at any job. And look at it from his point of view. Look at all the praise Moyes and van Gaal got for giving Januzaj and Rashford their chances. And now they're sacked. Even if Mourinho liked the idea of being a long term manager, all his professional experience tells him that never happens: you win or you're sacked. Remember Moyes' 6 year contract? All the great work he was supposedly doing behind the scenes? Jose fucking does.

So I don't think he has a problem with young players for the sake of it, I just think he's not remotely interested in giving a young player his chance this season in the expectation that he will be better next season, when he has the option of just signing an older player who's better than the kid is right now.

It's not a bad thing, and maybe he's the right choice for right now. But what we should hope for is that Mourinho brings in some good players, makes the senior team much more competitive, wins some shit and re-establishes us as one of the Champions League permanent members. The club should not let him sell off the family silver while this is happening, identify and approach his longer-term replacement, then fuck him off two seasons from now with a hearty thanks.
