Not just a shit beer: Corona and football
Healthcare workers, supermarket workers, bus drivers all have to go to work. Young millionaire professional athletes too scared to play football don’t. They have a fair point, but just goes to show how fucked it is that the people whose jobs actually matter get paid buttons while some lads good at kicking a ball are sitting at home raking in vast cash every week.

Is the gravity-defying Manchester United brand facing a fall back to earth?
https://www.theguardian.com/football/bl ... k-to-earth
A lot of guff in this article but it does contain a significant point: we're heavily reliant on sponsors and TV revenue and they're suffering in lockdown and wanting money back, so where does that leave us, a club that relies on constant growth?
We, as much as the smallest club in the league, need the Prem to resume cos we need the TV money and sponsor money who paid for TV exposure
Also the gov were briefing yesterday that there'll probably be no mass gatherings until next year which will leave us down on matchday revenue. That might be why some of our players are getting legal advice over next season's wages, cos the Glazers will almost definitely be forcing a pay cut. If TV and sponsor revenue is also down we could be fucked.

This is why it's dumb to re-start the season. What happens if/when players are found positive? You have to quarantine the whole team. But then they can't play

Premier League clubs face at least £300m bill to broadcasters
https://www.theguardian.com/football/20 ... n-finishes
The Premier League’s clubs are set to lose between £300m and £350m in broadcast revenues even if they find a way to finish the season. The penalties will be due because they would not be able to fulfil particular obligations from their contracts with the TV companies.
They involve the delivery of the product and, principally, the timing of it. The season would not be able to restart until mid-June, at best, meaning that the broadcasters’ preferred slots would have been missed. There is also the issue of how the matches would look without fans – a government stipulation if they are to take place. Again, this was not what the broadcasters signed up to.

Yeh, they will but most insurance companies will wriggle their way out of paying. I know the Govt have applied pressure and told insurance companies that they need to start paying out but how long will that take to force?
I'm sure they will find a solution - no point in both sides going into a fight and racking up potentially huge legal costs. My guess is both sides would agree to a reduction in projected broadcast revenues over the next three years to recompense the broadcasters...but in these exceptional times, what do I know...?

Premier League: Restrictions in place for team training under 'Project Restart'
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52635005
This is hilarious - tackling is banned. Imagine Martial through on goal to win us a top 4 spot but the opposition defender can't tackle him. Farcical

Shame to hear Dele Alli's home got broken into, but good to hear, ahead of the restart of the season, he was self-isolating
...with his partner
...and his brother
...and his brother's partner
...and some other unnamed guy
...playing pool
...but obviously not touching the balls or sharing cues.
Good job he's a footballer and not a government advisor like Neil Ferguson, otherwise the media would be calling for his head...
