On reduced wages with 6 months left on his contract, so he ended up going for free. It's just staggering incompetence. And he's been doing it 6 years now, but he's still no better.
Smalling doesn't deserve the hate he gets. He's a bit shit on the ball, but his defending is better than the rest our options, Maguire aside.Steggo wrote: ↑9 months agoIs it just me that finds it staggering that we offer new, enhanced contracts to the likes of Smalling,Jones and Lindelof? Why when these players would struggle to get into any other EPL side? Is there some thing I'm missing here?Lindelof is not one of the best centre halves in Europe -he's not even the best ch in Manchester. Its not good playing in his position and .being afraid to head the ball.
Maybe in some respects, but he's not nearly as good a passer, and it's the generally shite state of our passing that has our team so dreadful to watch.
Are they still interested in this "ball playing" defender?bman2 wrote: ↑9 months agoLindelof's agent, apparently:
https://www.aftonbladet.se/sportbladet/ ... isslyckade"Victor Nilsson Lindelöf was perhaps Manchester Uniteds best player last season and with that comes interest from clubs who are better on the pitch right now. When Mathijs De Ligt chose Juventus, Victor became Barcelonas first choice. His play style, his DNA is very close to the way Barcelonas plays. He's one of the best center backs on his feet and Barcelona wanted him. That was it. I can talk openly about that now.
They contacted Ed Woodward multiples times with concrete offers. I met with their head of transfers Matt Judge to try and get a deal through. But they said "There is no way. Victor is one of our best players". It ended up with a new contract instead even though Victor had three years left on his contract. Normally they don't do extensions with players that have so long left on their contract, but when interest came in from this type of level they had no other alternatives."
We really need to turn things around. Fighting to hold onto the players that the club values. Dropping down the table. Out of the CL.
