Reports Sanchez has asked to leave. It coincides with Inter declaring their interest.

Bruno Fernandes got three assists today. Three. That's a goal and 4 assists in his first three matches. Can the club really justify not having a punt on him instead of relying on Pereira, Lingard, or Mata to be our number 10? It's absurd. Those are three players whose stats are a joke. Fernandes would surely have been an improvement on that.

I don't know if we were ever in for him tbf. It looks like Sporting were using our name to improve his value. But if we weren't in for him, why not, he's class.

Ole wants his team to play a high pressure, quick counter attacking football that take advantage of the speed & skills his players have. The problem with that style of play is that if the opposition lineup not to be scored against, (9 defenders & 1 upfront), and then organize themselves so there is little or no room behind them it’s almost impossible to break on them. The lack of creative playmaking midfielder has plagued United since Sir Alex retired, and yet window after window goes by and we have not even come close to fixing the problem. Mata may be the closest we have to being the playmaker midfielder, however; he is much too slow to be effective in a pressing defense and cannot keep up with the attacker when we do break. Lindgard is the angry gnat buzzing around making a nuisance of hisself but not really getting much accomplished. Pogba is playing just in front of the back four and while his long passes and runs can open up a defense that is strung out, they are not much good when the opposition penalty box is jam packed.
Teams coming to Old Trafford will play in their own half which will neutralize our team speed and then wait for us to make a mistake. We do not have playmaker(s) that can open up this type of defense, and we are just as likely to concede goals to the very tactic (long ball - quick attack) we want to utilize.
The Palace game was a classic example of the adage: “when the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem becomes a nail.”. Ole and his staff must learn that when something isn’t working, it does need to be changed.

I read somewhere that teh money from selling Lukaku will be given to Ole for signings during the winter transfer window - anyone up for bingo on why we don't sign anyone over Christmas?
