Darmian, Blind and Shaw all starting in defence vs. Spurs. Guess Jones played himself out of a starting spot today. Hope McNair gets the other spot.

This has come around quick

We feel unprepared, especially the keeping situation

The only thing I'm worried about is Looey...

Is he going to let them play?

Or is he going to hold them back???

Hmm... Front three of Depay/Rooney/Mata sounds really good on paper tbh, but will Van Gaal let them play? I think a big problem is how Van Gaal instructed his attacking players last night, and also last season after our good run. He basically tells them to stay in their positions most of the time, which in turn causes the very frustrating lack of movement up-front. And lack of movement = no space = no chances.

Oh, and by the looks of it, Herrera won't start against Spurs... he was one of our best players whenever he played last season! I would much prefer a midfield three of Carrick/Schneiderlin/Herrera (if LVG lets Schneiderlin play more forward) to something that includes Schweini instead of Herrera - all three always seemed to occupy the space in front of the defence, with none of them going forward and moving around (I suspect again it's down to LVG's instructions).

So yet again, we're seeing some very worrying signs from Van Gaal... Time will tell.

This is what I'd like to see (but we won't):

GK
Darmian + 3 others
Herrera - Schneiderlin
Mata
Januzaj/Pedro - Rooney - Depay

3 defenders - Alderweireld, Trippier and a German one from FC Koeln.

They've let go quite a lot of players though, including Paulinho and Chiriches.

Spurs have a crazy high rate of turnover of players, or it seems that way anyway, I gave up trying to remember who they have for the most part. They specialise in players who seem like they might be great ... but aren't.
