Enjoy the game chaps it'll be great to have actual football to talk about again. I'm going to miss the game but fully expect a win.

Good call by LVG. Saw in the PSG game how uncertain DDG looked. Don't play him until the end of the transfer window. If he is still after that then he has no choice but to knuckle down for the year, especially to be first choice for Spain in the Euro's.

To be fair to Perez, it is a lot of money to pay for a player you can have for free in a year and there's no competition because he's set on coming to your club. Real and United's positions are both understandable; sometimes there's just not a price that makes sense for both sides. It's Mendes who's pissed in the pool by promising the player he could get his move this summer and creating this crisis situation. If De Gea and his agent had been more upfront about things, instead of trying to play a sneaky game, probably everybody could have come away reasonably satisfied.

Did we not pay 23.5 for RvP when he was going into his final year? If that's fair price for him, DDG is easily worth 30 million, given his age, and how long he'll be at the top level.
Fuck Madrid, if they don't want to pay up - I wouldn't sell him for 15-20 million.

Are Madrid really happy to stick with their keepers for a whole year though?

For all the discussion regarding de Dea and whether an unfit Romero or inexperienced Johnstone should replace him, let's not forget that we had a more than acceptable replacement in Valdes until van Gaal decided to out him publicly for not playing an U21 fixture. Whatever the truth is about that, the fact that van Gaal chose to announce it in a news conference is downright piss poor man management on his part and ultimately created the current goalkeeping dilemma - notwithstanding de Gea's part in it. If he had dealt with it internally man to man, we would still be able to call upon a high class keeper and it would have taken a lot of pressure of the de Gea situation, plus it would have strengthened our hand with RM. This is a mess of van Gaal's own making and I suspect it won't be his last.

It's not bad man management if the manager is not interested in managing the man.

LVG is and has always been a stubborn goat. He's pissed off players and management everywhere he has gone. It is his way or the high way. With LVG you don't get anything based on reputation and past performance. Everyone competes for a spot in the team and he is not going to pander to player power. Same as Taggart and Jose. I remember Jose battering Carvalho in public for being a tit, he turned out to be the best defender of the season after his public flogging.

Fuck Valdez, it is a different culture at United and the EPL where player power is less of a dark force than it is in Spain. The reality is that a crew of Ramos and Ronaldo rule RM, not Benitez Hill. Messi and Iniesta the same for Barca. Even Terry is kept on a tight leash by
Jose.

LVG is a three year sticky plaster. His job is to sort the squad out so that it is competitive and ready for the long term solution. It is clear that DDG does not want to be part of that plan. The law is what it is, so nothing we can do about the freebie situation. As for trying to sell him earlier, only a bum would think that was a good idea. He has been phenomenal for us. Who cares about the cash, we have gazillions. Cash isn't and has never been the problem, it is getting the players, who want to come and can be released. Competing with RM, Barca, Bayern, PSG, Chelsea, Arsenal, Juve, Milan, Arsenal, etc, there is a lot these can offer and it's not as easy as FIFA 2014.

It's a competition to be in and win in the world elite. It's hard but it is supposed to be.
