Watched teh game yesterday, Gerrard's tackle on Mata was monstrously horrid, he should've gone for that never mind an absolutely cowardly and despicable stamp on Herrera. I think Herrera was booked for the fact his tackle was out of control - even though he didn't actually catch Gerrard, he didn't go in recklessly, and he went in with one foot. Placatory booking if ever I saw one to try to "balance" the incident. All the scouse apologists in the press can't type quick enough to let Saint Stevie off the hook for his thuggish, horrid behavior, instead showering him with praise for taking responsibility. The fucking joke of it - if that was Rooney, we wouldn't hear the end of it like when he kicked out against (West Ham? Steward Downing?) where he was branded a thug, etc.

We totally gave them the full lengther over the 90 minutes tbh, they had one clear chance that resulted in a deflected goal. I really think if we hadn't brought on di Maria we could've gone 3 or 4 nil. Di Maria, apart from his pass to Mata, was genuinely dreadful, constantly giving the ball away, dribbling down dead ends, all kinds of bad. Rooney was truly appalling as well and should've let Mata take the penalty - I knew he was going to miss it.

3 points and on, though, and a nice vein of form. That'll do for the run in.

I've seen numerous comments already about him apologising to his manager, teammates and fans without once stopping to apologise to Herrera for the stamp in the first place, but even the apology itself seems like he's just stroking his own ego. All that bollocks about "taking full responsibility for the result" just seems to me like he saying (in a not very subtle way) that the team is nothing without him! The sooner his Premier League farewell tour is concluded the better, because it's getting tiresome, and dear god, I hope he doesn't conclude it with an FA Cup winner's medal, the sheer smugness would be unbearable!
I understood it as him trying to blame his sending off for them losing the match, which is a good thing to do from the perspective of your team's morale. So I can respect that. But it's really classless not to apologize to the actual victim of your intentional assault -- it makes the apology come down to apologizing to Liverpool supporters for getting caught, not for doing it in the first place.

That's nothing to do with football rivalry and goes beyond the bounds of human decency.
Oh fuck... you would have blown a gasket back in the old forum, with the wheelchair porn, and threads dedicated to the, urm, shall we say, "less fortunate"...
Don't get me wrong Alf, I'm not precious or prudish, but it touches a nerve. My daughter is disabled, and as it happens, has spastic diapelgia.

Totally understand mate, and obviously it's a sensitive issue for you personally.

Having previously worked in that field I'm not at all comfortable with that term. I know we had wheelchair porn threads and all sorts before but never take the piss out of mental disabilities, that is too far.

Fair do's Brian.

Back on topic, the last couple of games have really started to show what (hopefully) van Gaal's philosophy is about. Important to follow it up with a commanding display against Villa next weekend.

Don't apologise. You are not reading it right. I didn't mention that "physical disability was fair game" you've assumed that because I didn't mention in the same sentence that physical disabilities are too far also. You've assumed and made a bit of a boob of yourself.

Just for your piece of mind, I don't think physical disabilities are kind to be making fun of... Though I've met a few who have physical disabilities that like to have a laugh as a way of coping with their disabilities and were quite light hearted about it!

No no, that would be my peace of mind.... My mind is peaceful already, so no need to "just say".

For him to give myself or another member of the forum a piece of his mind on this matter is now up to him after he's been informed of my view on this whole matter. So for his piece of mind..........
