Well another load of wank. Underdog defending at home worked well for a while. The fact that we didn’t get thrashed means we’re stuck with Ole’s incompetence for a while longer. Drop further down the table though.
Anybody agree with this?
Not me. It was a good performance, high concentration levels and maximum effort. But we only got a point because the game suited us with Liverpool having to attack, which allowed us to defend and exploit the space left behind by their fullbacks. We have one gameplan and it worked.

It will be away at Norwich next weekend that we'll fuck up because Norwich will sit deep and we'll have to break them down, which we probably won't do.
We've four games on the road in quick succession coming up. We've only scored twice on the road this season.

The first half was good. We pressed high and completely nullified their attack and fullbacks. Our attack wasn't great but that's understandable with the players available.

Second half we shat the bed. 20% possession, couldn't even hope to threaten their goal. We were still mostly solid defensively, but it's dumb to play like that for so long.

Norwich have the worst defensive record in the league, so they really shouldn't be difficult to break down, but I don't there's much we can carry forward from this performance. The players were obviously more up for a big game, which has happened loads over the last few years. Never materialises into anything more. And the system was tailored to counter Liverpool's strengths - there really aren't many teams who really so heavily on their fullbacks for chance creation - and while 2 up top and no wingers suits the squad, our full backs are shit going forward so it doesn't really solve anything in an attacking sense.
