To be fair it would be a massive deal if it goes ahead, the biggest we've ever done, so I'm sure it's not a straightforward process.
True but I'm reading it's the structure of the deal that's causing problems. Dortmund aren't happy with our instalments plan. They want more money quicker. And they're under no obligation to accept, it's early in the window. So I can see it running on and on...

Oh yes. This sums up our transfer strategy. We have one goldmine in Pogba, we need someone who'll perform well with him off the pitch.

You've conveniently left out the bits about why we need to sign him for footballing reasons. Amd whether you like or accept it, or not, when you're talking £100m in fees then the amount of revenue that might be associated has to be considered. Now more than ever.

tbh, I don't see the Sancho move happening. United are rightly insisting that the market has changed and that £100m+ isn't realistic. Dortmund are stubbornly insisting that Sancho is worth more than £100m. I'm in the same camp as anyone else who says it's the Glazer's money and so fuck it, the club should just spend but the reality is that without season ticket and game revenue next season, where does the money come from? I'm just hoping we have a back up plan otherwise it'll be the same old excuses again.

Also interesting to hear the ceo of BT talk about the cost of Prem TV rights (which are up for them soon) being vastly reduced cos of covid

I think we might have peaked at 6.7bn for TV deals. There's only Amazon that can shell out those figures but it won't have to cos Sky, BT etc won't be able to push em hard given their horrendous losses.

So clubs need to keep that in mind and not spend like fuck on the premise that Prem TV rights are going to rise and rise like they have done previously.

The problem is that we do need to strengthen to be sure of qualifying for CL again. Chelsea and City are strengthening, a lot. It’ll probably only leave one spot to compete for, and our squad is thin.

Not sure how much weight is behing what their DoF says but looks like they were serious about the 10/8/20 deadline for a deal for Sancho.

Might be for the best, that amount of money can be spent elsewhere.

Sancho has a contract until 2023 according to Kicker magazine in Germany signed last year so lets face this is more than likely off because Woodwards fucked it up again.

...meanwhile, back on the subject of transfers, I too am not convinced that Sancho is a must. I'd rather see us concentrating on LB, RB, DMF and cover for Fernandes.
I'd be a lot more interested in bringing in Julian Brandt, at €40 million, who can play right across the midfield and would both cover and compliment Fernandes. Would then leave us with decent money to fix our other frailties.
Mind you dozer won't like another Dortmund player...

This pretty much sums up the whole Sancho transfer debacle for me, not particularly well written but does highlight the point of Sancho - https://www.football365.com/news/opinio ... -fernandes
