Gomes has left United for Lille, and will be loaned out to Boavista in Portugal

https://www.skysports.com/football/news ... o-boavista

Gutted. He's pure quality. If he becomes a top player we'll end up buying him back for 150m.

Sounds a bit weird. Couldn't he have asked for a loan at United?

ESPN reporting we wouldn't let Roma extend Smalling's loan so he could play in Europa. I wonder why? I hope we're not planning on keeping him.
In case we meet them in Europa?

I didn't see any kind of talent in the few occasions he played for us.

Like it or not his lack of physicality is an issue. I’m not saying a player that small can’t make it, but he has to find some way to make it work for him.

It’s a bit annoying that we lost both Haaland and Bellingham to Dortmund in the past few months, and look set to pay them a fortune for Sancho. Dortmund have got a great thing going: great talent spotters and deal makers, and somehow are very good at giving younger players playing time while still competing well on the pitch. They must have amassed a fortune in sales in recent years.

Of course I’m sure they want to win titles again, not simply be a very well run feeder club.

True, but many of the best players in the world are / were small so it's totally doable. I just don't think we gave him a chance.

I read we wanted to loan him to a championship club and he said no. Fair play. He can learn a lot abroad.

I thought loanees weren't allowed to play against their parent clubs.
