The only way to rebuild this club is to be bold and bullish. It needs the appointment of a 'football man' to drive a footballing strategy. Someone who's fully empowered to structure the club on the basis of being motivated by success on the field - so we fall at the first hurdle.
From there, we need a credible manager. A shit ton of PR and an aggressive transfer window where we sign 4-5 proven players, probably for a total of near 300m quid. Big bang. The only way players of quality will join is if they see an aggressive approach to righting the ship. We'll never sell a project based on the idea of 2-3 years before we can even qualify for the CL.
It's not happening, but while the Glazers are here. We'll just continue to die slowly, against a backdrop of humiliation.

Another facet to being a crap team with lots and lots of money is that selling club are able to hold ius over a barrel. United has always had a reputation for paying over the going rate for players, setting record transfer fee many times, but since Gill left it has gotten totally crazy. Of course looking to pick up young English players will automatically put the price in the nosebleed section, and not being the attraction we once were will escalate the prices even higher.Pikey McScum wrote: ↑4 years ago If you're an up and coming player looking at what's currently going on at United, are you going to give real consideration to coming here - unless money is your motivation, cos we seem to be fine at fucking ridiculous sums at players these days who haven't earned it!?

The only way out is to invest in WORLD CLASS TALENT in key areas, just 2-3 to start it off. It's going to take a fuck ton of money tbf.
Dreadful recruitment lately so doubt it'll change.

A United source put the club's situation into stark perspective after Sunday's defeat at Newcastle: "We just have to try and get to January."
Club officials continue to state this is a notoriously difficult time to do transfer business and the doomed arrival of Sanchez from Arsenal in January 2018 underlines the pitfalls.
Yet, without additions, finishing in the top six looks impossible, let alone qualifying for the Champions League. If this is not achieved, it would trigger penalty clauses in sponsorship deals.
so were gonna spend in jan to keep sponsors sweet tbf

Great, if we can find players who are better than Matic, Mata, Fred, Pereira, Young and Rojo and we go injury free for the remainder of the season.Lazarus wrote: ↑4 years agoGreat if someone can get them to play football.lkhmffsstopmovingabout wrote: ↑4 years ago A United source put the club's situation into stark perspective after Sunday's defeat at Newcastle: "We just have to try and get to January."

PS - might want to add Martial to that list if he can get out of the physio room for a game or two.
