Sounds like they're actually thinking hard about fitness. If this is accurate it's encouraging.

The intensity of our press has been really encouraging in pre season. Let’s hope it’s here to stay

It's a mental issue. The team will capitulate when the opposition is tough.
We need new players.

This is a good sign, like Ash says you can already see the impact in how we're pressing teams. It's the exact opposite to how we sat in front of our box and formed a wall under Pulis. This is why Shaw says "preseason has been very difficult" - it will be killing them doing such intense cardio in that heat.

Apparently even the intensity of the technical drills has improved. Everything has to be done at speed now. Hopefully we see some sexy one touch football next season.

Mentality, perhaps. But it's also habitual.

It took Klopp 2 years to perfect Liverpools press and in the first year they ran out of steam after 70 mins in games, and their players looked fucked after February. It takes time.

I just hope we're committed to seeing it through. In some games, especially against better teams, they occasionally beat our press and score goals. You need to hold your nerve, believe in what you're doing, keep practising and improving the squad.

The big problems will be Static in a holding midfield role and a lack of proper pace at the back. For that reason, I've got a sneaking feeling that we'll use Tuanzebe more than people expect.

Yeah Matic is the weak link. He's a true Jose hoofer. 6ft 6 is means he's too big and unagile to move quickly and cover space and harrass forwards. Small players from shit teams just ran around him last season. And he shits himself under pressure. He's 31 on the 1st aug too.

McTominay is similar in stature but he has better feet and technique as we saw against PSG. He doesn't hoof it as much and can play a bit more under pressure, unlike Matic whose had 4 or 5 years as a passenger on Joses bus. But he's not ideal. It's hard to see who else would make a good screen for the defence. And we have a real need for one now our best ball winner Herrera has gone.

Bailly and Smalling must be two of the fastest CBs in the league. Shaw's a bit slow but AWB is rapid. The pace is there if we want it
