We need a systematic rebuild from the top down.
That’s the thing though, from a football perspective you couldn’t be more right but business wise it couldn’t be going better for the glazers. They’ve steadied the ship, grown the brand and we’re arguably getting more and more copy than ever... it’s almost good business that we’re such a mess.

As long as the brand isn’t harmed, they’ll keep it on this course IMO. The second someone is doing more harm than good, they’re out. I can see Mou and Pogba gone for these reasons on the next months, woody demoted into the background, but the operating structure won’t change massively. It works for them and that’s all that matters.
On the commercial side, we're a beast. No need to mess with that. But, it'd be short sighted to not see where things are going...

We're not competitive at the top any more. Very few big players want to join us right now. More and more negative press, a sense of gloom hangs around the club - we're almost a laughing stock. Social media is a powerful thing, and as we're losing credibility in footballing circles, there'll inevitably be commercial implications at some point.

Added to which, the money we're spending in the market isn't being used wisely, or anything close to it. Let Woodward focus on noodle and tyre sponsors. Bring in a DOF and support structure to create and lead the footballing vision, scout and recruit players properly, and establish a coaching and playing team that look like they're actually enjoying the privilege of playing for this club - and go about it in a professional way!!!
Agree with all that but I think it’s more the travails this summer that have forced the board into properly considering the impact of long term negative press, particularly about their CEO. Plenty of negative press under Moyes and LVG and that didn’t exactly slow down the marketing side of our operation.

It’s why I reckon this restructuring is tied in and is just a demotion of woody. It’s tipped past ‘the guy fans love to hate’ into ‘this guy is harming our rep and long term brand’.

The issue with money isn't commercial revenue, but the fact that we're spending hundreds of miilions for mediocre results. If top 4 is the only commercial necessity, they could do it much cheaper. If you treat transfers like a business in itself, like Chelsea or Porto, you can make a profit there too.

We're shelling out a filthy amount in wages too. I reckon the club are more concerned with that than transfer fees. Paying top dollar for shite performances and results.

....and paying over the odds and massive wages for supposed WC players and the fans play along with the 'emperors new clothes' narrative.

"Oh, he's young he'll grow into the role." , "He was our best player today.", "He needs to be played in the right position.", "He needs better players around him.", "Look what he did elsewhere.", "He got MOTM on 3 occasions last season."

"During the 90 minutes in Monday's defeat to Spurs, Pogba only touched the ball 66 times and made a meagre 43 passes, of which 34 successful."
