Not so much Trump's personal interests, more the capitalist interests he / the president represents. Iran is hostile but NK is potentially open to them as Kim Jong Un is estabishing a new middle class / petite bourgeois, which is why you see the two meeting and shaking hands. Trump is spontaneous and unpredictable (which is why sections of the capitalist class reject him) so it could all go to shit. But going by history, it will be Iran they'll want to invade because they're hostile to US capitalist interests.marlon wrote: ↑1 year agoIt seems unlikely we'd do much without a vote in parliament where I think the govt would lose but it's not impossible.
Iran and NK are obviously v diff situations from a US and trump pov, so I guess trump's record of rhetoric vs action in NK doesn't mean much and he wouldn't care about international support like obama did. But threats are his first resort, so I don't think anything is particularly imminent and in a few months he'll be spending most of his time on an election. Maybe it'll come down to whether a war is personally useful to him or not.
I think his Islamophobia could be a factor with Iran, which is where war could become useful in an election as he targets his base. But yeah, the US have v little to gain from a war with NK and a lot to lose and it's more or less the opposite with Iran.
He was fucked up. I read an article that talked to scientists and the like who he befriended and gave funding to in return for their expertise. I'll try and find it. Basically he was a transhumanist (a kind of modern eugenicist) and thought he could to alter the DNA of the human race by shagging (raping tbf) loads of women. Fucked up.
